Q. What style of music do you play?
A. THE FRANKFURTERS specialize in "German-American" Music for all occasions. We specialize in marches, polkas, waltzes, foxtrots, tangos, reinlanders and other ethnic dances popular in the German speaking areas of Europe. We are well know for our Bavarian Show which consists of a Swiss Alphorn trio, tuned “Cow” Bells, the “Singing” Saw, and authentic mountain yodeling. We also do contests and various audience participation numbers, including the famous Schnitzelbank. We do not usually play “top 40” style music. Check out some sound-bites on our Audio Samples page.
Q. How extensive is your music “library”?
A. We are a standup, no music style group. We play completely “by ear”. We have been known to play for 7 hours without repeating a song, other than ein Prosit and the Beerbarrel Polka of course.
Q. What is the size of your group?
A. THE FRANKFURTERS are 6 musicians and a soundman. If you would like to see what the group looks like in performance checkout out photo page.
Q. How expensive are THE FRANKFURTERS?
A. We are among the most competitively priced groups in the area. Pricing for a particular function depends on a number of variables including distance, and duration of the gig to name a few. For a quote, please either call or send an e-mail request.
Q. How long do you typically play?
A. We perform anywhere from 1 to 6 hours depending on the venue but a typical gig is 3, or sometimes, 4 hours.
Q. How much space does the band need?
A. The band's stage area requirements vary, depending on the type of event and the size of band you request. We do realize that some venues are not able to provide a great deal of space. We work within the available area provided. If the event is a large ballroom, usually the stage is 8' deep by 20' to 24' wide. Prior to your parties' arrival, most large equipment (lights, speakers, and so forth) is usually set up. Please contact us with specific questions and/or concerns.
Q. Do we need to provide any sound or lighting equipment?
A. THE FRANKFURTERS come with all of our own sound and lights. Some very large venues will have an independent sound & light system provided. We work closely with these operators in order to achieve our desired “sound”.
Q. How does the band dress for a function?
A. We have many different outfits all of which are 100% authentic. During warm weather we usually wear our German lederhosen (leather shorts) with matching shirts, vests and socks. (This outfit can be seen on our Photo & Video Gallery - Venues page.) During cold weather we switch to our Austrian knickers with authentic “tracht” shirts and matching socks. (This outfit is featured on our home page.)
Q. Is music provided during your breaks?
A. Yes. We include playing a single CD to keep continuous music during our breaks.
Q. Do you play special requests?
A. If they are in our style and fit the occasion we will try our best to play all requests.
Q. How long has the band been together?
A. THE FRANKFURTERS have been performing since 1982. In addition, each of our musicians brings many years of musical experience to the stage.
Q. I have decided that I want THE FRANKFURTERS. What's next?
A. We send you our musical services contract that clearly spells out the terms and conditions. A deposit is usually due along with the returned signed agreement.
Q. Where can we see the band play?
A. Your best bet is to call us about our upcoming gigs or check on-line. Reservations may be needed for some events. It’s always a good idea to call ahead if possible.
Q. Do I need to meet with the band?
A. In most cases, event planning takes place over the telephone and via email or USPS mail. If necessary, scheduling a time to meet is possible.
Q. Where do we go to get good beer, food, costumes (et.al.) for our event?
A. Just check out the Related Resourses and Links page on this website.
Q. I am interested in your band, but my party is not in the Buffalo area. Are you willing to travel?
A. Yes, we have traveled, and will travel. Depending on the location and duration of the job - meal(s), travel, and/or lodging may be necessary. Please contact us for further information regarding any out of town travel.
